ISO is an organization whose secretariat is located in Switzerland and which aims to produce international standards in industrial and commercial fields. These standards are called ISO standards.
Note: ISO comes from the ancient Greek “ἴσος” which means “equal.” Contrary to popular belief, ISO does not stand for International Standard Organization. International Standard Organization is a retro-acronym.
