RIPE (stands for Réseaux IP européens in French) is an open forum for all parties interested in the technical development of the Internet. The purpose of the RIPE community is to make sure the continued administrative and technical coordination necessary to maintain and develop the Internet.
RIPE is not a standards body like the IETF; it does not deal with domain names like ICANN either. RIPE is not a legal entity and has no official members. Anyone interested in the work of RIPE can participate. The community interacts via mailing lists, working groups and meetings.« Back to Glossary Index
