.htaccess Files
« Back to Glossary Index
The .htaccess (for hypertext access) files are configuration files for Apache HTTP servers. They are used to prevent hot-links.
The .htaccess files allow you to add simple or complex rules to the web server of a web hosting (Apache or LiteSpeed Enterprise). You only need to add a few lines of code to an .htaccess file to prevent automatic linking.
The official Apache documentation is available on the site of this organization and all references are available free of charge for webmasters.
