How to Configure PlanetHoster Products

You have just purchased two extremely powerful PlanetHoster products: My (or, if you like, Customer Space) and the MG Panel (N0C). That is a great decision to achieving your goals!

Now, where do you start to configure them and get the most out of them? This is a legitimate question. My and MG Panel user interfaces do not reproduce the sequence of initial product configuration steps, as these are punctual in time and specific to each new customer. Moreover, the structure of knowledge bases is modeled on that of user interfaces.

This is where this article comes in: our new customers can save themselves a lot of trial and error by taking the time to read the following lines, which will guide them through the entire initial product configuration process.

Note :  The PlanetHoster Glossary contains explanations on multiple topics and can be consulted to clarify certain terms.

How to Use this Article

The many possible scenarios led us to use flow diagrams to clarify the text. As this approach is not suitable for all our readers, we have also included a short video explaining the process : PlanetHosters Products Configuration.

Please note: the video, written text and flowcharts complement each other. Although you can easily set up the products by reading the article step-by-step, we invite you to start by watching the video for an overview.

Here are the conventions used in our flow diagrams:

Preconditions

Even before configuring the products, you need to register as a new customer.

Procedure

This diagram shows the steps for configuring My (your Customer Area) and the MG Panel (N0C). Simply click on the boxes to open the sub-procedures or articles that will guide you through your tasks.

Preparatory phase — Profile

First of all, you need to provide your profile information (how-to).

Step 1 — Choosing a Domain Name

Choosing the right domain name is very important.

The blog How to Choose the Best Domain Name for Your Online Store? explains why.

Step 2 — Choosing and Buying a Product

The PlanetHoster website https://www.planethoster.com/en/ allows you to:

Simply click on the desired product, follow the on-screen instructions and pay the generated invoice. It is that easy!

Step 3 — Payment of the Generated Invoice

At this point, the invoice generated by the system must be paid (how).

Step 4 — Product Configuration — Domain Registration

From experience, we know that our customers frequently omit the following crucial steps. It is something that needs special attention.

First of all, the domain must be registered at PlanetHoster or elsewhere. There are many possible cases. We refer you here to the article How to Register and Transfer Multiple Domains to PlanetHoster and the Technical Advice in the knowledge base :

Step 5 — Product Configuration — Ordering Hosting

Before ordering hosting from PlanetHoster, separating the website you are about to design is considered as a best practice. Typically, the main domain will be associated with the website itself, and its sub-domains will be used for blogs, APIs and forums.

Now that you have done that, you can go through the six (6) steps involved in creating your hosting account.

Step 6 — Configuring N0C

N0C can then be configured for your domain or sub-domain. Please read the article Step by Step Guide to Configure N0C.

It is extremely important that you start by securing your domain. This step, although vital, is often neglected by our customers, at their peril.
