How to Configure PlanetHoster Products

This article contains some information that applies only to a version of the product prior to the redesign.

You have purchased two extremely powerful PlanetHoster products: My (the central service management and billing platform, accessible via the Member Area/Client Area) and N0C (the web hosting control panel and infrastructure platform, accessible via the MG Panel). This is an excellent decision to help you achieve your goals!

Now, where do you start to get the most out of them? It’s a valid question, especially since the user interfaces of the Client Area and the MG Panel do not walk you through the initial product setup steps—these steps are one-time tasks specific to each new customer.

This is where this article comes in: our new customers will save themselves unnecessary trial and error by taking the time to read the following lines, which will guide them through the entire initial configuration process for our products.

From experience, we know that our customers frequently omit the following crucial steps. It is something that needs special attention.

Note :  The PlanetHoster Glossary contains explanations on multiple topics and can be consulted to clarify certain terms.

Prerequisites

You must have registered as a new customer of PlanetHoster. The method is explained in the article How to Sign Up and Login to the Client Area.

Although you can easily set up the products by reading the article step-by-step, we invite you to start by watching the video How to Perform the Initial Configuration of PlanetHoster Products for an overview.

Procedure

Simply click on the boxes to open the sub-procedures or articles that will guide you through the procedure.

The many possible scenarios led us to use flow diagrams to clarify the procedure. Here are the conventions used in our flow diagrams:

Securing Your Member Account With 2FA

In order to increase the security of your access to My, it is strongly recommended that you require two-factor authentication when accessing the member area.

Please refer to the article How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentification for details.

Profile Informations

First of all, you need to provide your profile information (please refer to the article How to Manage Your Profile Information).

Appropriate Choice of Domain Name

Choosing the right domain name is very important. The blog How to Choose the Best Domain Name for Your Online Store? explains why.

Domains Registration

First of all, the domain must be registered at PlanetHoster or elsewhere. There are many possible cases.

We refer you here to the article How to Register and Transfer Multiple Domains to PlanetHoster and the Technical Advice in the knowledge base :

The following articles are also useful at this step:

Hosting at PlanetHoster (Creation of Web Projects)

When ordering hosting at PlanetHoster, right at the beginning, separating the website you are about to design is considered as a best practice. Typically, the main domain will be associated with the website itself, and its sub-domains will be used for blogsAPIs and forums.

Now that this is done, you can proceed through the steps to create your Web Project (see the article How to Create a Web Project).

Login to the Web Project Management Platform (N0C)

Login to the hosting account management platform (N0C) as explained in the article How to Overview the Web Projects.

N0C Configuration

Then, configure N0C for your domain or subdomain according to the article How to Configure N0C.

It is extremely important that you start by securing your domain. This step, although vital, is often neglected by our customers, at their peril.
